Method
- Heat olive oil in a pot over medium heat.
- Add sofrito, sazón, adobo, oregano, and pepper; sauté until fragrant.
- Stir in beans and tomato sauce.
- Add water or broth and bring to a simmer.
- Simmer 25–30 minutes until slightly thickened.
- For the rice, heat oil in a pot, add rinsed rice, and stir to coat.
- Pour in water and salt; boil until water evaporates.
- Cover, reduce heat, and steam for 20 minutes.
- Fluff and serve with beans.
Notes
Add potatoes or pumpkin for thicker, richer beans.
