Ingredients
  

Apple Filling
  • 6 apples peeled and sliced
  • 0.75 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.5 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
Crisp Topping
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 0.75 cup brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter cold, cubed
  • 0.25 tsp salt

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and butter a baking dish.
  2. Toss sliced apples with sugar, spices, vanilla, lemon juice, and cornstarch.
  3. Transfer apples to baking dish and dot with butter.
  4. Mix flour, oats, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly.
  5. Sprinkle topping over apples evenly.
  6. Bake for 40–45 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Notes

Serve warm with ice cream for best flavor.
