Ingredients
  

Onion Base
  • 4 large sweet onions sliced into rings
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter cut into small cubes
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.75 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and butter a baking dish.
  2. Arrange a layer of sliced sweet onions in the baking dish.
  3. Season onions with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  4. Dot onions with butter and sprinkle with shredded cheeses.
  5. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used.
  6. Cover loosely with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  7. Remove foil and bake an additional 10 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  8. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Best served warm. Use Vidalia onions for the sweetest flavor.
