Ingredients
  

Toffee Chex Mix Base
  • 6 cups Chex cereal any combination
  • 2 cups mini pretzels
  • 1 cup pecans or mixed nuts optional
  • 1 cup popcorn or bagel chips optional
Toffee Coating
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter
  • 0.25 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 tsp salt

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 250°F (120°C). Line a baking sheet or use a roasting pan.
  2. Mix Chex cereal, pretzels, nuts, and optional mix-ins in a large bowl.
  3. In a saucepan, melt butter with brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Bring to a boil and cook for 3 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Pour hot toffee over dry mix and stir quickly to coat.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.
  7. Spread out to cool completely before breaking apart.
  8. Store in airtight containers.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle flaky sea salt on the mix while cooling.
