Ingredients
  

Spiced Beef Filling
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion diced
  • 2 carrots diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 0.5 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Mashed Potato Topping
  • 2 lb potatoes peeled and cubed
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 0.5 cup milk warm
  • salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

  1. Boil potatoes in salted water until fork-tender, then drain.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet and sauté onion and carrots until soft.
  3. Add garlic and ground beef; cook until browned.
  4. Stir in tomato paste, spices, Worcestershire sauce, and broth; simmer until thick.
  5. Mash potatoes with butter and milk; season well.
  6. Spread beef filling in a baking dish and top with mashed potatoes.
  7. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes until golden.
