Ingredients
  

Soup Base
  • 1 lb ground beef or pork
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 4 cups green cabbage chopped
  • 1 cup white rice uncooked
  • 1 can diced tomatoes 14.5 oz
  • 1 can tomato sauce 15 oz
  • 6 cups broth beef or chicken
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp thyme dried
  • 1 tsp parsley dried
  • 1 bay leaf
  • salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

  1. Brown meat in olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add onion and garlic; sauté until softened.
  3. Stir in chopped cabbage and cook until wilted.
  4. Season with thyme, parsley, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, bay leaf, salt, and pepper.
  5. Add broth, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and rice.
  6. Bring to a gentle boil, then simmer 30–40 minutes until rice and cabbage are tender.
  7. Remove bay leaf and adjust seasoning.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley or dill and serve warm.

Notes

Soup thickens as it sits; add broth when reheating if needed.
