Ingredients
  

Gravy Base
  • 1 lb breakfast sausage mild or spicy
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 0.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper to taste
  • 0.25 tsp salt adjust to taste
  • 1 pinch smoked paprika optional

Equipment

  • Hand mixer or stand mixer

Method
 

  1. Brown sausage in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it into crumbles.
  2. Add butter and allow it to melt into the sausage.
  3. Sprinkle flour over sausage and cook 2 minutes to form a roux.
  4. Slowly pour in milk while stirring until gravy begins to thicken.
  5. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, salt, and optional smoked paprika.
  6. Simmer 3–5 minutes until thick and creamy. Serve over warm biscuits.

Notes

For thinner gravy, add extra milk. For thicker gravy, simmer longer.
