Ingredients
  

Sauce
  • 12 oz fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup pineapple chunks fresh or canned, drained
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup orange juice fresh preferred
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • 1 cinnamon stick optional
  • 1 pinch salt

Method
 

  1. Rinse cranberries and discard any damaged berries.
  2. Combine cranberries, pineapple, sugar, orange juice, water, and salt in a saucepan.
  3. Add cinnamon stick if using and bring mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cranberries burst and sauce thickens.
  5. Remove from heat, discard cinnamon stick, and stir in orange zest.
  6. Cool slightly before serving; sauce will thicken as it cools.

Notes

Adjust sweetness to taste. Sauce can be served warm or chilled.
