Ingredients
  

Casserole
  • 1 loaf brioche or challah cubed
  • 6 eggs large
  • 2 cups milk or half-and-half
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp nutmeg
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp butter melted

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Grease a baking dish and fill with cubed bread.
  2. Whisk eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt together.
  3. Pour custard over bread and press lightly to soak.
  4. Drizzle melted butter over the top.
  5. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40–50 minutes until golden and set.
  7. Cool briefly, then serve with maple syrup or toppings of choice.

Notes

For extra crunch, add a pecan streusel before baking.
