Ingredients
  

Cookie Batter
  • 6 cups blackberries fresh or frozen
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract optional
  • salt pinch
  • 2 tbsp butter cubed
Filling
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp sugar for topping

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly butter a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Combine blackberries, sugar, lemon juice, flour, vanilla, and salt. Let sit for 10 minutes.
  3. Pour berry mixture into dish and dot with butter cubes.
  4. Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Cut in the cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  6. Add milk and stir gently to form a soft dough.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of dough over berries and sprinkle with sugar.
  8. Bake 45–55 minutes until golden and bubbly. Cool 15–20 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top before baking.
