Ingredients
  

Casserole Base
  • 1.5 lb ground venison
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 0.5 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 cup frozen corn or mixed vegetables
  • 10.5 oz cream of mushroom soup 1 can
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese divided
  • 32 oz frozen tater tots 1 bag

  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Wooden spoon

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook onion until soft, then add garlic.
  3. Add ground venison and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  4. Season venison with salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme.
  5. Stir in vegetables, soup, and milk until well combined.
  6. Remove from heat and mix in 1 cup shredded cheese.
  7. Spread mixture into baking dish and top with tater tots.
  8. Sprinkle remaining cheese over the top.
  9. Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Notes

For extra crispiness, broil for the last 2–3 minutes.
