Ingredients
  

Sweet Potato Base
  • 4 cups mashed sweet potatoes
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 eggs large
  • 0.33 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.5 tsp nutmeg
  • 0.25 tsp salt
Pecan Topping
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar packed
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. Boil peeled sweet potatoes until fork-tender, drain well, and mash until smooth.
  3. In a large bowl, combine mashed sweet potatoes, melted butter, sugars, eggs, milk, vanilla, spices, and salt.
  4. Mix until smooth and evenly combined.
  5. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  6. In another bowl, mix pecans, flour, brown sugar, and softened butter until crumbly.
  7. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the sweet potato mixture.
  8. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes until golden and set.

Notes

Can be prepared a day ahead and baked just before serving.
