Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb smoked kielbasa sliced into ½-inch rounds
  • 2 cups sauerkraut drained and rinsed
  • 1 medium onion thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp caraway seeds optional
  • 0.5 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 tbsp parsley chopped for garnish

Method
 

  1. Slice kielbasa and onions, mince garlic.
  2. Heat olive oil in skillet over medium heat, sauté onions until soft and slightly caramelized.
  3. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
  4. Add kielbasa, cook until golden on edges.
  5. Stir in sauerkraut, paprika, black pepper, and caraway seeds.
  6. Pour in broth, reduce heat to low, cover and simmer 10 minutes.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning, garnish with parsley, serve.

Notes

Rinse sauerkraut if you prefer milder flavor. Optional vegetables or apples can add sweetness.
