Ingredients
  

Teriyaki Sauce
  • 0.5 cup soy sauce low-sodium preferred
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 tbsp honey or granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger grated
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water

Method
 

  1. In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger.
  2. Heat over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves and mixture begins to simmer.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk cornstarch with water to form a slurry.
  4. Slowly whisk slurry into the simmering sauce.
  5. Cook 2–3 minutes, stirring constantly, until thickened and glossy.
  6. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before using or storing.

Notes

Adjust sweetness or thickness to taste. Sauce thickens more as it cools.
