Ingredients
  

Chocolate Cupcakes
  • 1.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1.5 tsp baking powder
  • 1.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1.75 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs large
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup milk or buttermilk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
Buttercream Frosting
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3-4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp cream or milk

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Cupcake pan
  • Piping bag and tip
  • Hand mixer or stand mixer

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan.
  2. Whisk dry ingredients together in a large bowl.
  3. Add wet ingredients and mix until smooth.
  4. Fill cupcake liners and bake 18–22 minutes.
  5. Cool completely before frosting.
  6. Beat buttercream ingredients until fluffy and pipe wreaths.

Notes

Use gel food coloring for vibrant green frosting.
