Ingredients
  

Deep-Fried Strawberries
  • 12 fresh strawberries hulled
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 large egg
  • 0.5 cup milk or plant-based milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • vegetable oil for frying
  • powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

  1. Wash and hull strawberries. Pat dry.
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder. In another bowl, beat egg, milk, and vanilla. Combine wet and dry ingredients to form batter.
  3. Heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Dip strawberries in batter, allowing excess to drip off.
  4. Fry strawberries 2–3 minutes until golden, turning occasionally.
  5. Drain on paper towels and dust with powdered sugar. Serve immediately with optional chocolate or caramel sauce.

Notes

Best served fresh. Can be paired with ice cream or whipped cream.
