- Rinse rice under cold water until mostly clear.
- Combine rice, coconut milk, water, salt, and sugar in a saucepan.
- Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let rest covered for 10 minutes.
- Fluff with a fork and stir in coconut oil if using.
Notes
Use full-fat coconut milk for best flavor and texture.
