- Combine blueberries, sugar, and lemon juice in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Cook for 5–7 minutes until blueberries burst and mixture thickens. Set aside to cool slightly.
- Butter one side of each bread slice evenly.
- On the unbuttered side, spread cream cheese evenly.
- Spoon blueberry compote over cream cheese, then sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
- Top with remaining bread slices, buttered side facing out.
- Cook sandwiches in a skillet over medium-low heat until golden brown, about 3–4 minutes per side.
- Remove from pan, rest briefly, slice, and serve warm.
Notes
Cook over low heat to ensure cheese melts evenly without burning the bread.
