Ingredients

Blueberry Compote
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
Sandwich Assembly
  • 4 slices bread brioche or sourdough
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter softened
  • 4 tbsp cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or white cheddar

Equipment

  • Skillet or griddle
  • Saucepan
  • Spatula
  • Knife

Method

  1. Combine blueberries, sugar, and lemon juice in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Cook for 5–7 minutes until blueberries burst and mixture thickens. Set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Butter one side of each bread slice evenly.
  4. On the unbuttered side, spread cream cheese evenly.
  5. Spoon blueberry compote over cream cheese, then sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  6. Top with remaining bread slices, buttered side facing out.
  7. Cook sandwiches in a skillet over medium-low heat until golden brown, about 3–4 minutes per side.
  8. Remove from pan, rest briefly, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

Cook over low heat to ensure cheese melts evenly without burning the bread.
