Method
- Cook pasta in salted boiling water until al dente; reserve 1/2 cup pasta water and drain.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet and brown sausage until cooked through.
- Add onion, bell pepper, zucchini, and tomatoes; sauté until softened.
- Add garlic, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes; cook 1 minute.
- Pour in marinara sauce and simmer 2–3 minutes.
- Add pasta to skillet and toss with sauce, adding pasta water as needed.
- Stir in Parmesan and season with salt and pepper.
- Serve warm topped with fresh basil.
Notes
For a creamy twist, add a splash of heavy cream or a spoonful of mascarpone.
