Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic until meat is browned and onions are translucent. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, basil, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Simmer 10–15 minutes to develop flavor.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta, Parmesan, 1 cup mozzarella, egg, and parsley. Stir until creamy.
  5. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of the baking dish. Layer noodles, half the ricotta mixture, half the remaining meat sauce. Repeat layering. Top with remaining mozzarella.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and lightly golden.
